교사의 권위주의와 자기애 성향이 학생에 대한 편견에 미치는 영향

A Study on Effect that Authoritarian and Narcissistic Personalities of Teachers Have on Prejudice Against Students -Considering Empathy as a Parameter-

본 연구의 목적은 교사의 권위주의와 자기애 성향이 학생에 대한 편견에 영향을 주는지를 알아보고, 교사의 공감이 각각의 성향변인(자기애, 권위주의)과 학생에 대한 편견사이에서 매개효과가 있는지 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 초·중·고등학교 교사 196명을 대상으로 학생에 대한 편견 척도, 권위주의 성격 척도, 공감 척도, 자기애 성격장애 척도를 사용하여 자료를 수집, 분석하였다. 그 결과 교사의 자기애 성향과 권위주의 성향이 각각 학생에 대한 편견과 정적인 상관을 보였다. 회귀분석에서도 각각의 성향이 편견에 영향을 주고 있는 것으로 나타났고, 그 중 권위주의 성향이 자기애 성향보다 편견에 대한 설명력이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 교사의 공감이 각 성향(권위주의, 자기애)과 학생에 대한 편견 사이를 매개하여 편견 감소에 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 자기애자와 권위주의자가 편견을 갖는 것은 일정 부분 대상에 대한 공감이 부족하기 때문이라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 공감하는 정도가 높아지면 편견수준은 낮아질 것으로 예측할 수 있다. 이를 통해 교사의 편견이 성향에서 비롯될 수 있다는 문제제기와 학교 내에서 편견을 줄여나가기 위한 계획을 수립하는데 도움을 줄 수 있는 자료를 제공하고자 하였다.

The purpose of this study resides on whether personalities of teachers affect prejudice against students. I tested setting up an assumption that authoritarian and narcissistic personalities that are personality variables each should have positive correlation with prejudice against students. In the course of setting up an assumption, I tried to differentiate how prejudice of persons with narcissistic personality and that of persons with authoritarian personality were different from each other, suggesting formation of prejudice and operation process of each personality variable (narcissistic, authoritarian) with models. Additionally, I studied if empathy of teachers had mediated effect between each personality variable (narcissistic, authoritarian) and prejudice against students. The summarization of this study is as below. First, authoritarian and narcissistic personalities of teachers each had positive correlation with prejudice against students. Result of simple regression analysis represented that each personality variable (narcissistic, authoritarian) had significant effect on prejudice. As a result of multiple regression analysis, the explanatory adequacy turned out to be higher for authoritarian personality than for narcissistic personality, and the result of collinearity test showed that each of authoritarian and narcissistic personality was functioning as independent variables. Second, Empathy of teachers turned out to have mediated effect between each personality variable (narcissistic, authoritarian) and prejudice against students. Therefore, if empathy training is exercised for teachers who have high level of authoritarian personality and narcissistic personality, those levels are expected to get lowered.
