교과교실 운영의 핵심요소 규명과 발전단계별 교과교실 유형 구분 연구

Research on Implementation Factors and Developmental Types of Subject-tailored Classroom

본 연구의 목적은 교과교실 운영의 핵심요소를 밝혀내고, 이를 기초로 교과교실의 양적 확대와 질적 심화를 통해 단계적으로 확산하는데 필요한 정보를 생산·제공하는데 있다. 이를 위해 첫째, 2011년 현재 선진형 교과교실제를 운영하는 106개교의 실태를 종합적으로 살펴보고, 둘째, 2011년 교과교실제 우수 운영 학교를 방문하였으며, 마지막으로 106개교 교과교실제 담당교사를 대상으로 반구조화된 질문지를 마련하여 면담을 통해 교과교실제와 관련된 시설 운영 측면과 수업 운영 측면에 대한 조사를 실시하고 이를 종합하였다. 이를 바탕으로 연구진은 10여 차례의 집중작업과 전문가협의회를 통해 교과교실 운영의 핵심요소로 공간 특성(수업용, 교사용, 학생용)과 교과교실에서 이루어지는 수업 특성(블럭타임, 수준별 이동수업, 집중이수)의 총 6가지를 추출하였다. 또한 교과교실 운영 유형은 학교의 기본 시설을 중심으로 구분할 수 있다고 보아, ‘수업공간강화형, 교사공간강화형, 학생공간강화형’으로 대별하였다. 후자로 갈수록 시설을 더 충실히 갖추는 것으로 보았을 때, 이것은 학교 현장에서 교과교실을 도입·정착·발전시켜가는 순서이기도 하다. 이를 바탕으로, 각 학교는 주어진 여건을 종합적으로 고려하여 최적의 유형을 도입·발전시켜 나아가야 함을 제안하였다.

The study’s propose is to expand subject-tailored classroom as an institution to everyschool. The study clarifies core factors of subject-tailored classroom implementation. Based onthe core factors, the study focuses on providing information necessary for gradual expansionwith increased quantity and better quality of subject-tailored classroom. Researchers formulated 6 distinctive factors of subject-tailored classroom management. Thefirst 3 features are spacial features: instruction space, teacher space, and student space. Thelatter 3 are instructional features: block scheduling, ability grouping, and time-aggregatedinstruction. Moreover, subject-tailored classroom management types are divided by schoolfacility, generally classified “subject-tailored classroom focused on instruction space,subject-tailored classroom focused on teacher space, and subject-tailored classroom focused onstudents space”. This is also the order to introduce, settle, and develop subject-tailoredclassroom in school setting. The study suggests that each school must consider overallcondition to utilize subject-tailored classroom in the best form.
