Development and Application of Hands-on Chemistry Experiment Activity Resources

과학 수업을 위한 실험 활동 자료가 많이 개발되고 교사 연수를 통하여 이들 자료가 보급되고 있지만, 개발된 자료를 학교 현장에 적용하는 것이 적합한지에 대한 적절성 검증 연구는 많지 않다. 이 연구의 목적은 hands-on을 강조한 화학 실험 활동 자료를 개발하고, 개발된 자료를 현장과학 교사 연수에 적용한 뒤, 연수에 참여한 교사들로부터 실험 활동 자료에 대한 현장 적용의 타당성을 알아보는데 있다. 우선 과학 교사 단체에서 개발한 많은 자료 중 학교 현장 적합성, 내용의 수준, 적용 가능한 수업 전략 등을 체크리스트를 통해 점검하여 7가지 화학 실험 주제를 선정하였다. 이 실험 주제를 연구진과 개발진의 워크숍, 학교 현장 적용을 통한 수정 보완을 통하여 hands-on에 기초하면서 개념, 탐구능력, 태도를 증진시킬 수 있는 형태로 개발하였다. 이렇게 개발된 실험 활동 자료를 현장 교사 연수에 적용하였다. 연수 참여 교사들의 설문 결과, 개발된 실험 활동 자료는 모두 현장 적합성이 높으며, 실험 주제나 내용 구성에 따라 정규 수업, 특별 활동, 체험 활동에 대한 적합성의 정도가 다름을 알 수 있었다. 또한 개발한 실험 활동 자료를 바탕으로 실험 연수를 실시함으로써 개발한 자료의 장단점을 파악하고 현장 적용 가능성을 높이기 위해 실험 활동 자료를 정교화 시킬 수 있었다.

Although many experimental activity resources for science class were developed and provided from in-service teacher education, the researches were hardly performed whether the developed resources were relevant to the science class. This study aims to develop the hands-on chemistry experiment activity resources, to apply the resources to in-service science teacher education, and to examine teachers perceptions on the applicability of the resources. First, among the chemistry experiments developed by a science teachers association, 7 experiments were selected by testing through the checklist, which included the applicability to the school education, the content level and teaching strategy appliable to science class. The researchers modified the selected experiments to improve the concept, inquiry and science attitude by workshops and the application to school setting. The developed experimental activity resources were applied to the in-service education. The participants survey on the resources showed that the resources were highly applicable to the school education. The applicability to regular class experiment, to extra class activity, and to experiencing activity were different according to the topic and the content structure of the resources. From the application to the in-service education, we could find the strength and the shortcoming of each experiment, and elaborate the resources to have the higher applicability.
