독일 라틴어 교육의 위상과 현황

Latin education in Germany

이 논문은 독일의 라틴어 교육의 위상과 현황을 개괄하고자 하는 시도이다. 이를 위해 우선 독일에서 라틴어 교육의 필요성과 관련된 논의가 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지 알아보고, 다음으로는 라틴어 교육과정의 편제와 내용을 구체적으로 파악하며, 끝으로 라틴어 교육 방법과 평가, 그리고 라틴어 교재들에 대해서 검토해 본다. 이를 통해 우리는 독일의 외국어 교육정책이 실용성과 더불어 학문적 소양의 기초 형성이라는 목표를 지향하고 있음을 확인할 수 있다. 이 논문은 특히 외국어의 실용성만을 강조하여 영어 이외의 외국어 교육에 대한 관심과 지원은 거의 이루어지지 않고 있는 우리의 현실에 일정한 시사점을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.

This paper aims to analyze the current state of Latin education in Germany. First of all, it examines how the discussion of the necessity for Latin education looks like. Secondly, the curriculum of Latin education is presented and then different methods of teaching, evaluation methods and teaching materials are introduced. As a result, it is to be stated that foreign language education in Germany addresses not only on the usefulness, but also on the basic formation to the study in university. In view of our situation, in which only the usefulness of foreign languages is stressed, while concerning and institutional support in foreign languages except English are hardly to be found, this study could give critical references.
