중고제(中古制) 판소리를 바라보는 관점과 지향

A viewpoint and direction to see Pansori of Joonggoje

이 글은 판소리 중고제의 역사적 실체를 밝히기 위한 전제 작업으로 그 정의를 분명히 하고자 기획되었다 알려진 대로 중고제는 판소리 발생 초반 그 형성의 중요한 역할을 수행하였음에도 그 실체 여부에 대한 논의가 끊임없이 제기되었다 이러한 이유에서 실체로서의 중고제 속성으로서의 중고제 활동으로서의 중고제로 그 정의 영역을 설정하고 보다 깊이 있는 논의의 방향을 설정하고자 한 것이다 대상에 대한 이해는 그 대상을 어떤 관점에서 바라보고 정리할 것인가로 귀결되기 때문이다 실체로서의 중고제를 설명하기 위하여 필요한 전제는 다른 유파와의 구체적 차별성을 명확하게 드러내 보이는 것인데 아직 그러한 작업이 착실하게 이루어졌다고는 할 수 없다 또한 속성으로서의 중고제를 설명하기 위하여 중고제를 나타나게 한 공간과 시대 그리고 여기에서 활동한 사람들의 성격까지도 점검할 필요가 있다 추상적인 중고제의 설명은 이러한 구체적 작업의 집합에서 찾아질 수 있을 것이기 때문이다 활동으로서의 중고제가 깊이 논의되어야 하는 까닭은 중고제를 현실로 받아들이고 왕성하게 활동하면서 그 역사가 쌓인다는 점에 있다 이는 동편제와 서편제의 확립에서도 이미 보아왔던 일이다 중고제 판소리의 위상 확립을 위하여 중고제로 인식되는 인물과 음악의 구체적 연구 축적 그리고 중고제 학습의 단계 설정 등을 제시하였다 이러한 작업을 통하여 중고제는 누구도 넘볼 수 없는 역사적 현재로서의 역할을 감당하게 될 것이다.

This article was planned to make sure the definition of Joonggoje of Pansori as the prework to reveal the historical truth. Although Joonggoje played a crucial role of its formation at the initial period of Pansori, as known previously, it had been debated continuously on its true nature. In this regard, it was defined as Joonggoje with the true nature, its nature, and its activity, and tried to establish its direction of discussion in detail. Because the understanding on the subject results how the subject are viewed and summarized. Prerequisite to explain Joonggoje as the true nature is to show the objective differences from other schools clearly, which has not been considered to be realized sincerely. In addition, to explain Joonggoje as the nature, it is necessary to check the space, times to demonstrate Joonggoje, and the characteristics of those who performed in this area. Because the abstract explanation of Joonggoje can be found in the group of these objective works. The reasons for Joonggoje to be discussed as the activity are to accept it as the reality and to build up the history upon its dynamic activities. These are the cases of Dongpyunje and Seopyunje with their establishments. To build up the position of Joonggoje Pansori, it was suggested to accumulate the objective studies on the characters and music perceived as Joonggoje and to establish the steps of learning Joonggoje. With these works, Joonggoje will play a role that nobody can replace historically.
