학습참여 동기 유형에 기반한 노인미술교육의 필요성

Necesity of Senior Art Education based on the Motivation Types of Learning Participation

의학기술의 발달과 보건 위생에 대한 국가적, 개인적 관심의 증대 등으로 인간의 평균 기대수명이 늘어남에 따라 노년기 연령의 폭은 점차 넓어지고 있다. 즉, 과거에 비해 은퇴 후 남은 인생의 기간이 길어짐으로써 이 시기를 어떻게 의미 있게 보낼 것인가에 대한 관심과 욕구가 증대되고 있다. 이에, 본 연구는 평생교육적 관점에서 성인의 학습참여 동기유형에 대한 이론적 근거를 제시한 호울(Houle)의 이론을 고찰하고 이를 기반으로 노인미술교육의 의의 및 시사점을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 미술활동은 노인들의 미적 안목을 길러주고 성취감을 높여주며, 사회성을 증대시키는 등 노년기 자기 계발에 매우 유효한 영역이라 할 수 있다. 따라서 학습에 대한 노인들의 다양한 욕구와 동기를 고려한 노인미술교육에 대한 관심과 연구가 필요한 시점이다.

As the average life expectancy increases due to the development of medical technology, the number of elderly people with various personality and learning motivation is increasing. Therefore, this study aims to examine the theory of Houle, which presented the theoretical basis for the motivation type of adult participation in learning from a lifelong education perspective, and to suggest the significance and implications of art education for the elderly based on this. Art activities are very effective in self-development of the elderly people, such as raising the aesthetic perspective, enhancing the sense of accomplishment, and increasing the sociality. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to and study on the art education for the elderly considering the various needs and motivations of them.
