중등 역사과 서⋅논술형 평가의 실시 현황과 교사의 인식

The Current Status of Restricted and Extended Response Essay Assessment in History Subjects of Middle School and History Teachers Awareness

2019학년도부터 경기도 중등학교에서는 서술형을 논술형에 포함시켜 논술형 평가를 지필평가나 수행평가에서 35% 이상 의무로 실시해야 되면서, 지필평가에서는 선다형 문항으로 획일화가 진행되고 수행평가에서 다양하게 전개되었던 평가는 논술형 평가로 이름만 바뀌거나, 수행평가에서 논술형 평가는 미리 공개된 문항에 대해 암기하여 적는 또 다른 지필평가의 시행과 같은 형태로 나타나고 있었다. 역사과에서 서⋅논술형 평가의 필요성은 모든 교사가 동의하고 있다. 현재 역사교사의 인식은 ‘서술형 평가’는 역사 사실 등의 지식을 묻는 답이 정해져 있는 평가이며 변별을 위해 지필평가에서 주로 활용하는 평가로, ‘논술형 평가’는 자신의 의견과 주장을 논리적으로 작성하는 것으로 수행평가에서 하는 평가로 인식하고 있었다. 서ㆍ논술형 평가의 부담을 뛰어넘는 논술형 평가의 실시가 지필평가나 수행평가에서 학생평가의 방향을 오히려 역행하는 현상으로 나타난다면 이러한 평가정책은 제고되어야 할 필요가 있다. 논술형 평가의 시행에서 가장 중요한 것은 교사의 마음과 의지이다. 현재의 현황과 교사의 인식에 토대를 둔 평가정책이 모색되어야 한다.

All teachers agree with the need for the restricted and extended response essay assessment in history subjects. Currently, history teachers recognize that the ‘restricted response essay assessment’ has fixed answers to the questions asking about knowledge including historical facts, this is mainly used in the paper and pencil assessment for discrimination, and the ‘extended response essay assessment’ is to write their opinions and views logically in the performance assessment. If the extended response essay assessment goes counter to the direction of paper and pencil assessment or student assessment on performance, this assessment policy needs to be reconsidered.
