The article deals with the development of Korean traditional painting from the period of Unified Silla to the end of the Joseon dynasty (VII-XIX centuries). The author explores various genres of painting and their connection with public consciousness. The conclusion is that Korean painting throughout its history was heavily influenced by Chinese painting, but Korean artists have developed their own national style that meets Korean tastes and the picture of the world.
