The article is devoted to the aesthetic effect of poetic texts to a reader on the example of poems by Korean poets of the twentieth century translated into Russian. The author s attention is drawn to some distinctive features of Korean poetry – a strict rhythmic pattern with many internal consonances, lexico-semantic and phonetic repetitions, thematic diversity, symbolism of images, melodiousness combined with depth of presentation – that are the stylistic means to effect the reader aesthetically (in this case we are talking about a Russian reader). At the same time, the author deliberately avoids the deep linguistic-cultural or linguistic-stylistic analysis in order to trace the aesthetic effect of modern Korean poetry to an ordinary reader who loves the poetic word in general.
