The article is devoted to the description of methodological work with a music video (clip) which is a rich authentic material for studying in a foreign audience. Learning the language and culture is an integral part of the educational process. The authors of this article offer an interactive way to get acquainted with the cultural capital of Russia, which can interest both Russian students and foreign ones, as well as make the Russian language lesson more interesting. Exciting interactive classes increase not only motivation to learn the language, but also awaken students’ desire to learn St. Petersburg, develop language and speech skills, and cultural competence. Methodological techniques for understanding culture and language through working with a music video can become effective in the audience of students who live abroad, and will increase motivation to study Russian and the desire to visit the wonderful Russian city.
