This article focuses on the philological research area called paremiology, also known as the study of proverbs. These simple, concrete, traditional sayings express a perceived truth based on common sense or experience. Often metaphorical and using formulaic language, proverbs are considered as a genre of folklore. Since each language possesses its own proverbial expressions, there is a special study named comparative paremiology that analyzes the proverbs originated from different language cultures. Thus, in the present research we aim to take a closer look to Korean proverbs by comparing and contrasting them to Russian proverbs. While doing the research, we will refer to scientific resources of Wilhelm von Humboldt, Vladimir Dal, Grigory Permyakov, etc.
