This paper is about of Andrey Platonov s novel Chevengur symbolic elements. There are many symbols in the book, that are genetically originated from Masonic practice, such as architectural elements or motifs of initiation related to symbolic death and resurrection. At the same time, all these symbols function in the plot of the novel as Communist symbols. Platonov uses Masonic symbols for parody purposes, wanting to emphasize the utopian nature of Russian communism.
