Brazilian furniture designers, Campana brothers usually use unsuitable material for making furniture. They utilize leftover pieces of plywood, stuffed dolls, plastic hoses, corrugated cardboard, and natural fiber. Therefore the connection between these objects become the most important issue as for manufacturing. Tectonic design evolves from this flow. Analysis on Campana’s works reveals that they adopt three tectonic details such as weaning, piling-up, and mixing of weaving and piling-up. These are profoundly fundamental tectonic techniques in ar-chitecture according to Semper and Bötticher. Tectonic means not just construction technology but also aesthetical value. Brothers’ tectonic follow Brazilian gambiarra tradition which is spon-taneous and makeshift problem-solving creativity. As a result, their design can represent Brazilian regionality. Also the accumulation of handheld material produces plentiful tactile surfaces that satisfy human corporality.
