The article explores to research contemporary IoT furniture for the silver generation based on the survey conducted through email and mobile requests from December in 2019 to the end of January in 2020. The participants are 56 people in total including from 28 people in fifties (55~59 years old, 50%) to 28 people in sixties (60~69 years old, 50%) and the findings are as follows. The first, the participants’ own houses are the most preferred place where they would like to live when they get mobility impaired and need cares resulting from their old ages. The second, when the participants are asked to choose two necessary living furniture, the first is a bed accounting 30% of the subjects and the second is a sofa accounting 23%. The third, the thing they put first when purchasing furniture is the function of furniture accounting 52% of the subjects. The fourth, regarding to the question about whether they have heard of IoT, 82% of the subjects responded “Yes”. The fifth, a bed is the number one furniture which they want IoT technology to be integrated with accounting for 38% of the subjects. The sixth, the ward-robe is the furniture which the participants have felt inconvenient most about. Therefore, this research suggests that the development of furniture for the silver generation should be first in the field of living home furniture rather than in the field of nursing facility furniture. Most of all, the most necessary furniture should be researched and developed. Since the silver generation put the furniture function first in purchasing furniture, the further research should focus on the furniture quality. More over, more than 80% participants are aware of IoT and the furniture with IoT technology should be developed quickly. In light of IoT furniture development, a bed should be the first developed and a wardrobe which had the most complaints from the subjects should be investigated to improve the inconveniences with IoT technology.
