Before globalization, objects appropriated in artworks had their own original local characters coming from various cultural backgrounds. However, because of globalization, some objects made by global companies are vastly spreading and recognizing people around the world. A researcher found out artworks appropriating globalized objects easily create meaning and relationship with audience. According to in the fields of architecture and art, globalized non-site objects are distinguishes from site originated objects. Based on the study, a researcher planned to juxtapose a non-site object and site originated skill and philosophy. South Korea have thousands of Buddhist temples built hundreds years ago. For decorative and preservative purposes, more importantly for praying for good fortune even after death, Koreans have used Dancheong technique on temple s wooden structures. I modified otherwise discarded wooden containers for export and import into furniture. After that, I drew traditional Korean lotus Danchung patterns and colors on the surface of the wooden containers as a ritual for rebirth. Through my ritual, containers came from abroad arrived in Korea turned into a new object such as Buddhist tales of rebirth. In conclusion, a research intended to suggest a new perspective about placeness on furniture design field.
