An Exploratory Study on the Elements of an Educational Program for Suicidal and Self Harm Counseling: Focusing on Counselor’ Needs

목적 본 연구는 상담자를 대상으로 자살 및 자해 상담 교육프로그램의 구성요소를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 방법 이를 위하여 총 223명의 상담자를 대상으로 반구조화된 개방형 질문지를 사용하여 온라인 설문을 실시하였다. 자료분석 방법은 다수의 표본을 대상으로 포괄적이고 일반적인 결과를 도출하고자 CQR-M을 사용하였다. 결과 분석 결과, 총 5개 영역, 21개 상위범주, 45개의 범주가 도출되었다. 5개의 영역 중 교육프로그램의 내용과 관련된 요구에는 ‘자살 및 자해 상담 교육내용 일반’, ‘내담자 차원의 어려움 대처에 대한 교육’, ‘상담자 차원의 어려움 대처에 대한 교육’, ‘후기청소년특성의 어려움 대처에 대한 교육’이 있었다. 또한 교육프로그램의 방법과 관련된 요구에는 ‘자살 및 자해 상담 교육 요구의 방법적 요소’가 있었다. 결론 연구 결과를 토대로 자살 및 자해 상담자 교육에 대한 함의 및 제한점을 제언하였다.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate content elements and method elements of a suicidal and self harm counseling education program required by counselors. Methods The purpose is to identify the shortcomings, 223 counselors were polled by a semi-structured open-ended questionnaires and were used by an online survey. Response data were analyzed using a modified consensus qualitative research method (CQR-M) appropriate to confirm comprehensive and general results for multiple samples. Results As a result, 5 domains, 21 categories, and 45 sub-categories were revealed. Among the five domains, ‘Suicidal and Self Harm Counseling General Education Needs’, ‘Education on Dealing with Difficulties on the part of the Client’, ‘Education on Dealing with Difficulties on the part of the Counselor’, and ‘Education on dealing with difficulties in the Characteristics of post-adolescents.’ correspond to training needs in terms of learning content. The remaining domain, ‘Method Components of Suicidal and Self-Harm Counseling Training Needs’ refers to training needs in regards to learning methods. Conclusions Based on the results of this study, implications and limitations were discussed on the suicidal and self harm counseling education.
