Near infrared reflectance spectroscopy (NIRS)is a rapid and accurate analytical method for determiningthe composition of agricultural products and feeds. Thisstudy was conducted to measure anthocyanin contents inblack colored soybean by using NIRS system. Total 300 seedcoat of black colored soybean samples previously analyzedby HPLC were scanned by NIRS and over 250 sampleswere selected for calibration and validation equation. Acalibration equation calculated by MPLS(modified partialleast squares) regression technique was developed in whichthe coefficient of determination for anthocyanin pigmentrespectively. Each calibrationequation was applied to vali-dation set that was performedwith the remaining samplesnot included in the calibration set, which showed high posi-tive correlation both in C3G and D3G content file. In casePt3G, the prediction model was needed more accuracy becauseof low R2value in validation set. This results demonstratethat the developed NIRS equation can be practically usedas a rapid screening method for quantification of C3G andD3G contents in black colored soybean.
