中世王朝物語にみられる「孝」: 『木幡の時雨』と『五常內;義抄』をめぐって

從來, 中世王朝物語における儒敎の影響については、 ほとんどその影響關係が論じられるということはなかっ た。しかし、例えば、『木幡の時雨』では、女主人公の 母に對する親孝行を通じて佛敎的な思想に加え、より 儒教的な「孝」の思想を受けている人物として描いてい るなど、中世王朝物語の中に、儒教の「孝」の思想の影 響と感じられるものが相当あると考えられる。 『木幡の時雨』には、表立ってはどこにも、「孝」や 「礼」という表現はみられないが、親（実母）のいじめ に耐え抜いた姫君が最後に幸福になることができた、と いう作品の展開は、たとえば『五常内義抄』で言われて いる、「好ク親ニ随ハンハ、強ニ孝ノ子ニアラズ、悪カ ラン親ニ随ヲ孝トハ申也」（すべて、子を好いてくれる 親にしたがうようなのは、必ずしも孝の子ではない。子 に対してひどいことをする親にしたがうのを孝子とは申 すのである）という考えと類似している。その点におい て、この作品は実母の実子いじめ、という点は特殊であ るが、その特殊な物語の中で、中世に顕著になってきた 思潮を描こうとしているのではないかと考えられる。 中世の教訓書である『五常内義抄』は、儒教の倫理 項目が仏教と融合ないし吸収されたかたちで説かれてお り、いわば、近世における儒教盛行の先がけとしての意 味を持つのではないかと考えられる。『五常内義抄』の 説く「礼」や「孝」の観念に合致していることを否定す ることはできないであろう。 『木幡の時雨』は「孝」の観念を背景に置いているの ではないかと考えられる。この物語が普通の継子いじめ のかたちをとらないで、実母の実子いじめという、他に 例のない物語の構成にしたのは、実子を理不尽にいじめ るような、悪い母の命ですら従順に従う子という「孝」 の思想と根底において物語の展開を試みした結果ではな いだろうか。従って、この物語の姫君の生き方は、『五 常内義抄』の孝子の生き方にかなっており、そしてそれ が、姫君に最終的に幸福がもたらされた理由となってい ると考えられる。

Previously, the influence of Confucianism in medieval dynasties was hardly discussed.However, in “Kihata no Shiu,” for example, the heroine’s filial piety to her mother is portrayed as a person who is more Confucian than her mother. In “Kihata no Shigure,” you can’t see the expressions “hyo” or “rei” in public, but the development of the work, such as “Gotsunai Yoshisho,” is not necessarily said in “Gotsunai Yoshisho,” “Han is a filial son, but a filial son.” It is similar to the idea that filial piety is when parents obey their children who do terrible things to their children. In that respect, this work is special in that it is a bullying of the biological child of a biological mother, but I think it is intended to depict the trend that has become prominent in the Middle Ages in its special story. In the medieval lesson book, “Goshonai Eishou”, the ethical items of Confucianism are explained in the form of fusion or absorption with Buddhism, so to speak, it is considered to be a precursor to Confucianism’s success in the modern era.It cannot be denied that it conforms to the concepts of “rei” and “hyo” as described in “Gotsunai Yoshisho.” I think “Kihata no Tokiu” is based on the idea of filial piety. The story, instead of taking the form of ordinary bullying of stepchildren, is made up of an unprecedented story called bullying of biological children by biological mothers because of the idea and foundation of filial piety that even the lives of bad mothers. Therefore, the way the princess lives in this story is consistent with the way Takako lives in “Gotsunouchi Yoshisho,” and this is the reason why happiness was finally brought to her.
