The Historical Context and Characteristics of Theravada Buddhism Cultural Communication Between Yunnan and Southeast Asia

The Dai-Tai Ethnic Groups in Yunnan and Southeast Asia are characterized by geographical proximity, close ethnic ties and common cultural ties. The Theravada Buddhism in China come down in one continuous line with it in Southeast Asia, which forms the Theravada Buddhism Cultural Circle in Southeast Asia . This natural golden bond has made the Buddhist cultural communication between the two sides go back to ancient times. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the formation history of Dai-Tai Ethnic Cultural Circle and Southeast Asian Buddhist Cultural circle through relevant historical documents, and trace the historical and cultural background of the cultural exchanges between Yunnan, China and Theravada Buddhism, Southeast Asia. Through limited local chronicles, ethnography and oral historical data, this paper combs the historical memory of cultural exchanges between Yunnan and Southeast Asia Theravada Buddhism, clarifies the historical context of cultural communication between Yunnan and Southeast Asia Theravada Buddhism, analyzes the characteristics of cultural interactions between Yunnan and Southeast Asia Theravada Buddhism. By examining the history and present situation, with a view to providing useful academic support and ideological reference for promoting international cultural exchanges between Yunnan and Southeast Asia.
