송재정 드라마의 신화적 모티프 변용에 나타난 세계관

tvN <나인: 아홉 번의 시간여행>과 <알함브라 궁전의 추억>을 중심으로

tvN 드라마 <알함브라 궁전의 추억>은 국내 최초 증강현실을 소재로 드라마와 게임을 융합해 화제가 된 드라마다. 전작 <인현왕후의 남자>, <나인: 아홉 번의 시간여행>, <W>를 통해 시공간 초월 소재를 꾸준히 발표했던 송재정 작가는 <알함브라 궁전의 추억>에서 현실과 가상 공간을 자유롭게 드나들며 공간적 상상력을 풀어냈다. 또한 고대 그리스 신화 속 프로메테우스와 오디세우스를 차용한 캐릭터와 종교적 모티프를 변용시켜 마법과 판타지라는 환상적인 스토리텔링을 구현하였다. 본 연구는 <나인:아홉 번의 시간여행>과 <알함브라 궁전의 추억> 두 편의 드라마에 공통적으로 나타난 신화적 모티프와 환상성을 분석하고 신화 원형의 변용에 나타난 작가의 세계관을 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 두 편의 드라마 속에 반복되는 신화적 모티프의 유사성을 통해 작가가 전달하고자 하는 주제 의식과 드라마 속 캐릭터들이 신화적 표상을 어떻게 표현하고 있는지 살펴보았다. 그 결과 송재정의 세계관은 첫째, 시공간의 재구성을 통한 구원의 서사, 둘째, 절대 악의 응징과 인과응보의 진화, 셋째, 피폐한 영웅의 절대 의지와 이를 완성하는 사랑의 힘으로 요약된다. AI 시대, 드디어 조우한 게임과 드라마의 결합 속에서 판타지가 신화적 상상력의 옷을 입고 어떠한 모습으로 변용되었는지를 밝혀내는 것에 본 연구의 의의가 있다고 할 것이다.

The tvN drama ‘Memories of the Alhambra’ is a drama that became a hot topic in 2019 by combining a drama and a game based on augmented reality for the first time in Korea. Writer Song Jae-jung, who has consistently presented dramas based on the materials beyond time and space through his previous works, ‘Queen Inhyeon s Man’, ‘Nine: Nine Times of Time Travel’, and ‘W’, expressed his spatial imagination by freely crossing real and virtual space in the drama ‘Memories of the Alhambra’. It also transformed the mythical characters and religious motifs from Prometheus and Odysseus in ancient Greek mythology to embody the fantastic storytelling of magic and fantasy. This study intends to analyze the mythological motifs and fantasies common to the two dramas ‘Nine: Nine Times of Time Travel’ and ‘Memories of the Alhambra’ and to consider the author s worldview and mythological imagination consistently expressed through the transformation of the mythological prototype. Through the similarity of mythological motifs repeated in the two dramas, this study looked at how the characters in the thematic consciousness and augmented reality that the writer wants to deliver consistently express the mythological representations. As a result, Song Jae-jeong s worldviews can be summarized as first, the epic of salvation through the reconstruction of boundaries; second, the refined evolution of the punishment on the absolute evil and the retributive justice; and third, the exhausted hero s absolute will and power of love. It would be meaningful that this study finds out how fantasy was transformed into clothes of mythological imagination in the combination of games and dramas finally encountered in the AI era.
