The Narrative Elements of Gal 3:6-29

이 연구의 취지는 갈라 3,6-29을 설화분석으로 읽는 것이다. 바오로 서간에 수사학 분석만 적용하는 연구 동향에 문제를 제기한 후, 연구본문을 설화분석으로 읽을 때 본문 이해에 어떤 공헌을 할 수 있을 것인지 살펴보는 것이 본고의 목적이다. 이 목적에 도달하기 위해 본문 이야기 속에서 시간성, 등장인물, 구성이라는 설화적 요소를 발견하는 방법을 택한다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 갈라 3,6-29 이야기에서 그리스도 중심적 시간성에 따라 설화자가 구성한 ‘아브라함과 그의 후손’에 관한 이야기의 가치 체계 안으로 초대된 청자는 ‘이전’의 율법준수가 아니라, ‘전환점’인 그리스도의 계시 사건을 기점으로 ‘이후’의 그리스도에 대한 믿음이 중요하다는 것을 자각하게 된다. 이야기를 통해 설화자는 청자로 하여금 ‘믿음으로 사는 이들’, ‘율법에 따른 행위에 의지하는 자들’, ‘우리’, ‘여러분’이라는 등장인물과 자발적 동화과정을 거치도록 이끈다. 계시 구성으로 밝혀진 본문 속 이야기에서 설화자는 청자로 하여금 설화적 긴장을 거쳐 마침내 ‘하느님의 자녀’, ‘아브라함의 후손’, ‘약속에 따른 상속자’라는 그리스도인의 신원을 자각하도록 초대한다. 이 세 가지 설화적 요소를 갈라 3,6-29에서 발견함으로써, 이야기를 통해 설화자가 청자에게 효과적인 메시지 전달과 탁월한 수행적 효과를 발휘한다는 사실을 본 연구는 밝히고자 한다.

The purpose of this study is to read Gal 3:6-29 through Narrative Analysis. After raising the question of the tendency to apply only Rhetorical Analysis in Pauline Epistles, we examine what contribution can be made to the understanding of Gal 3:6-29 when we read it through Narrative Analysis. To reach this end, we chose to find three Narrative Elements(temporality, characters, composition) in the text. The results of this work are as follows: The Listener who are invited to the value system of the story organized by the Narrator according to the Christ-centered temporality realize the importance of faith in Christ, not of keeping the Law; The Narrator leads the Listener through a spontaneous assimilation process with the Characters “those who live by faith”, “those who rely on actions according to the Law”, “we”, and “you”; In this story revealed by the composition of revelation, the Narrator invites the Listener to awaken the identity of Christians through Narrative Tension. By finding these three Narrative Elements in Gal 3,6-29, this study tries to reveal that the Narrator exerts an effective message delivery and excellent performance effect to the Listener through the story concerning ‘Abraham and his descendant’.
