자폐성장애학생 교육의 변화와 발전방안

A Qualitative Study of Changes and Developments in Special Education for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder: From the Experience of Special Education Teachers

지난 30년간 특수교육 영역에는 많은 변화와 발전이 있었으며 그 중에서도 자폐성 장애를 지닌 특수교육대상자를 위한 교육은 매우 괄목할만한 변화와 발전이 있었다. 이에 본 연구에서는 지난 30여 년간 자폐성 장애 학생을 위한 특수교육의 변화를 살펴보고 이를 기반으로 앞으로 자폐성 장애학생을 위한 교육 방향을 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이러한 연구 목적을 위해 자폐성 장애 학생이 주된 학교 구성원인 특수학교의 현장 교사 7명을 대상으로 포커스 그룹 면담을 실행하였다. 면담을 통해 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과 6개의 핵심 주제와 19개의 하위 주제가 도출되었다. 본 연구 결과에 따른 6개의 핵심 주제는 첫째, 자폐성 장애 학생을 위한 특수학교의 탄생, 둘째, 인식의 변화와 지원 체계의 발전, 셋째, 결핍의 철학에서 다양성의 철학에 기반한 교육으로, 넷째, 선택의 기회가 다양해진 학교 교육 이후의 삶, 다섯째, 변화하고 발전하는 부모와 가족, 여섯째, 모두가 꿈꾸는 학교를 향해 등으로 분석되었다. 연구 결과를 기반으로 교사가 바라본 자폐성 장애 학생을 위한 특수교육 현장의 변화와 모두가 꿈꾸는 미래 학교를 위한 방안에 대하여 논의하였다.

In the past 30 years, there have been many changes and developments in the field of special education, and among them, the special education for ASD has made remarkable changes and developments. The purpose of this study was to examine changes in special education for students with ASD over the past 30 years and to explore the future direction of education for students with ASD based on this. Focus group interviews were conducted with 7 special education teachers who worked at special education schools where students with ASD were the main members of the school. As a result of analyzing the data collected through the interview, 6 core themes and 19 sub-themes were derived. The main themes were 1) the establishment of a special education school for students with ASD, 2) change in perception of ASD and development of educational support system, 3) from the philosophy of deficiency to education based on the philosophy of diversity, 4) developing into a variety of career choices for students after graduation, 5) networked and empowered parents and families, and 6) the future of education for students of ASD. Based on the results of the study, the future and developments in the special education for students with ASD were discussed.
