어머니의 자아존중감이 유아의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향에서 양육행동의 매개효과

The Mediating Effects of Parenting Styles in the Relationship between Self-esteem of Mothers and Self-esteem of Young Children

목적 본 연구에서는 유아를 양육하고 있는 어머니의 자아존중감이 유아의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향에서 양육행동의 매개적 역할을 규명하였다. 방법 경기도에 있는 유치원에 재원 중인 만 5세 유아와 그 어머니를 조사대상으로 하였다. 어머니의 자아존중감과 양육행동은 질문지를 통하여 자료를 수집하였고 유아의 자아존중감은 담임교사에게 평가하도록 하였다. 자료의 분석을 위하여 SPSS 26.0 프로그램을 사용하여 상관관계 분석과 회귀분석을 실시하였으며, 매개효과의 통계적 유의성을 보기 위하여 Sobel test를 실시하였다. 결과 어머니의 자아존중감은 유아에 대한 애정적 양육행동과 자율적 양육행동에 정적인 영향을 미쳤으며, 어머니의 애정적 양육행동과 자율적 양육행동은 유아의 자아존중감에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 어머니의 자아존중감이 유아의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향에서 양육행동의 매개효과를 분석한 결과, 어머니의 자아존중감이 유아의 자아존중감에 미치는 영향에서 애정적 양육행동과 자율적 양육행동의 완전 매개효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 본 연구의 결과는 유아의 자아존중감을 증진시키기 위해서는 양육행동에 대한 개입과 더불어 어머니의 자아존중감을 증진시키기 위한 개입의 필요성을 제시한다.

Objectives This study examined the mediating effects of parenting styles in the associations between self-esteem of mothers and self-esteem of children in early childhood. Methods Participants were 69 children and their mothers living in Kyungki-do. Statistical methods of correlational analysis and regression analysis were used for data analysis. Results The results of this study showed that self-esteem of mothers had positive influences on their nurturant and autonomy-encouraging parenting styles. Self-esteem of young children was positively affected by mothers’ parenting styles. The results from regression analysis indicated that parenting styles mediated the relationship between self-esteem of mothers and self-esteem of young children. Conclusions These results confirmed the importance of positive self-esteem and parenting styles of mothers for improving self-esteem of children in early childhood.
