A Study on Japanese Documents in the period of Imjin War: focused on the characteristics of Mori family-related documents

본고에서는 임진전쟁에 관한 일본 사료와 사료집을 모리 가문의 「毛利家文書」, 「下瀨賴直朝鮮渡海日記」, 「陰德太平記」를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 그 결과 「毛利家文書」에서는 일본 국내뿐만 아니라 부산포에서 한성에 이르는 히데요시의 ‘어숙박진청御宿泊陣請’, ‘로지정비路地整備 라는 임무가 다수 기록되어 있었다. 또한 히데요시가 모리 테루모토의 병환을 염려하면서 ‘養生’을 권유하고, 조선에 주둔하고 있는 무장들의 노고를 위로하는 내용, 부산포 지배와 축성문제가 적지 않게 언급되어 있었다. 「下瀨賴直朝鮮渡海日記」에서는 경상도 지역을 지배하려 했던 모리 가문의 점령정책과 조선 의병들의 저항 기록이 담겨있었다. 일본 측이 병량미 확보와 조선인 회유 및 통제를 위해 어떤 방식을 취했는지, 전쟁 초기 의병들의 활동으로 일본군의 지배가 순조롭지 못했던 점, 일본에 순응했던 조선인과 「歸居(おりい)=歸順/대리인」 의 존재에 대해서 기록하였다. 이 일기는 종군 가신단으로 조선에서 직접 체험한 戰況을 그대로 기록한 점에서 가치가 있다. 「陰德太平記」는 전쟁 편찬물의 전형적인 산물로, 전투 관련 기사가 주류를 이루었고 공적을 찬양하는 내용이 많았다. 강화교섭에 대한 조선 주둔 일본군의 입장, 남원전투에서 자행한 코베기 상황들이 담담하게 서술되어 있다. 모리 가문은 도요토미 정권에서 핵심 요직을 차지하고 있었기 때문에 다른 다이묘들에 비해 히데요시의 주인장과 왕복 문서가 다수 남아 있는 것이 특색이다.

In this paper, the introduction of Japanese historical documents and historical collections on the Imjin War is reviewed mainly on the Mori family s 「毛利家文書」, 「下瀨賴直朝鮮渡海日記」, and 「陰德太平記」. As a result, in the 「毛利家文書」, Hideyoshi s missions of ‘御宿泊陣請 and 路地整備 were recorded not only in Japan but also in Joseon from Busan to Hanseong. Also, while Hideyoshi was concerned about the illness of Terumoto Mori, and recommended 養生 , there were not a few mentions of the content of consoling the soldiers stationed in Joseon for their hard work, as well as the issue of control and fortification of Busanpo. 「下瀨賴直朝鮮渡海日記」 contains records of the occupation policy of the Mori family, which tried to dominate the Gyeongsang province, and the resistance of the Joseon righteous army. It also contains the records of methods the Japanese side took to secure military provisions and to convince and control Koreans; the fact that the Japanese military did not run smoothly due to the activities of voluntary soldiers at the beginning of the war; and the Koreans who conformed to Japan and the existence of 「歸居(おりい)=歸順/agent」. This diary is valuable in that it records the war situation that were directly experienced in Joseon as a member of the war vassal group. 「陰德太平記」 was a typical product of war compilations, and battle-related articles were the mainstay, and there were many contents praising achievements. The Japanese military s position in the Joseon Dynasty on the reinforcement negotiations and the situation of cutting-off-noses that took place in the Battle of Namwon are described calmly. Since the Mori family occupied a key position in the Toyotomi regime, it is a characteristic of the Mori family that it retained a large number of corresponding documents with the host of Hideyoshi compared to other Daimyo.
