항공서비스 전공 대학생들의 승무원 이미지에 대한 주관적 인식 유형 분석

A Study on the Subjective Recognition Types of Flight Attendant Image of University Students majoring in Air Service: Focusing on Q Methodology

본 연구는 항공서비스 전공 대학생들의 항공사 객실 승무원에 대한 이미지를 파악하기 위하여 Q-방법론을 적용하여 전공학생들의 다양한 주관적인 인식 유형을 객관적으로 분석하고 유형별 특성을 파악하고자 하였다. 선행연구들에서 사용된 Q-표본들은 승무원의 외적 이미지와 내적 이미지 중 외적이미지에 집중되어 있지만 본 연구에서는 선행연구를 통한 Q-표본 진술문과 항공서비스학과 교수 및 학생들과의 인터뷰를 통하여 외모, 성격, 역량, 가치, 근무환경의 5개의 범주로 나누어진 Q-모집단으로부터 총 33개의 Q-표본들을 선정하였다. 자료의 수집은 충청도 소재 항공서비스학과에 재학 중인 25명의 학생들을 대상으로 직접 인터뷰를 통하여 이루어졌으며, Ken-Q Analysis 프로그램을 사용하여 4가지 유형의 항공서비스학과 학생들이 지각하는 객실 승무원의 이미지를 알 수 있었다. 첫 번째 유형은 환한 표정의 호감 가는 외모 중시 형, 두 번째 유형은 외국어 등 자기 계발을 중요시하는 역량 중시 형, 세 번째 유형은 서비스 전반 지식 습득을 중요시하는 역량 중시 형, 네 번째 유형은 첫 번째 유형과 비슷하게 환하고 밝은 표정을 중시하나 친절하고 예의 바른 성격을 중시하는 근무환경 중시 형으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 항공 서비스 전공 대학생들의 객실승무원에 대하여 지각하고 있는 주관적인 이미지를 객관화하여 분석한 바 학생들은 키나 예쁜 얼굴, 유니폼 등 외적인 이미지만 중요시 하는 것이 아니고, 외국어 능력 등 자기 계발, 봉사와 희생정신, 그리고 친절 등을 중요시 하며 불규칙한 스케줄과 기내의 좁은 장소에서 일하는 등 어려운 직업 환경에 대하여 긍정적으로 생각하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

This study uses Q-methodology to identify and objectify the subjective images of flight attendants perceived by students who majoring in air service. Previous Studies used outer and inner image of flight attendants for Q-samples and specially focused on outer image. But This study uses 33 Q-samples which are extracted from Q-population that is made by previous studies, intensive interviews with students majoring in air service and professors. 33 Q-samples are categorized as appearance, characteristics, competence, value, working environment. 25 P-sample were participated in the interviews and the results were analysed with Ken-Q analysis program. After the analysis, 4 types of images are extracted. First type of image is pleasing appearance value, second type of image is competence value with speaking foreign language fluently, third type of image is competence value with having a wide knowledge at all around of service, and forth type of image is working environment value but similar to first type. From the extracted image types of flight attendants, students are valuing not only the outer image such as tallness, pleasing face, uniform but also competence, characteristics such as self-improvement for foreign language ability, service mind and sacrificing spirit. and irregular work schedule and working at narrow place in air flight are not problem for their working.
