Design Thinking and Future Scenario Design Methods (FM4D-BM) with Case Studies

새로운 미래 제품 시스템의 사업타당성 여부는 미래사업 추진에 있어 중요한 전략적 결정 요소이다. 즉, 신개념의 미래 제품 시스템의 사업 타당 성과 다른 이해관계자들에게 최적의 가치를 제공할 시뮬레이션이 가능하다 면 최선일 것이다. 이러한 미래 전략적 제품. 서비스. 시스템(Product Service System, PSS) 개발 사업 추진의 어려움을 극복하기 위해 ‘PSS Design과 비즈니스 모델링이 포함된 FM4D-BM(Futures Monitoring and Discover Define Develop Deliver-Business Model)’ 모델을 제안하고 모델 검증을 위해 여러 적용 사례를 제시하였다. FM4D-BM는 디자인사고 기반의 STEEPV 환경 스캐닝, 시나리오 플래닝 등의 미래예측 기법과, PSS Design 모듈, 비즈니스 모델 캔버스(Business Model Canvas) 모듈을 통합하여 구성 하였다. 이 방법론 Frame은 미래연구 무경험자도 단기에 의미 있는 미래 시나리오 개발을 가능케 하는 유용한 도구임을 증명하였다. 또한 이 모델로 한국의 글로벌 기업에서 컨설팅 후 미래 신제품, 서비스, 시스템이 성공적으 로 론칭 되기도 하였다. 사례연구로 2012년도에 홍익대 국제디자인전문대 학원 연구원들이 진행한 “2030 자동차”, “2030 미술시장” 등의 시나리오 개 발, PSS design과 Business Modelling 과제 결과 등을 소개한다. 장기간이 소요되고 고난도가 요구되는 FM4D의 환경스캐닝 데이터 수집, 변화 동인 추출과 매핑 등 여러 작업들은 차후 인공지능 Data Algorithm의 활용으로 획기적 생산성 제고가 예상된다. 머지않아 AI 미래학자의 출현을 기대해 본다.

Whether the new future product systems can be profitable from the business perspective is of great strategic decision factors for their execution. In other words, the business feasibility of the new concept of future product systems needs to be simulated and proved to be of value. To overcome this foresighted strategic business implementation huddle, ‘FM4D(Futures Monitoring and Discover Define Develop Deliver) with Business Modeling’ has been created and tested for validation of the model. The FM4D-BM set includes integrated foresight method tools such as STEEPV environmental scanning, scenario planning, PSS design, and business modeling simulation modules, organized in a straightforward adaptable approach. Even student researchers without previous experience of foresight work produced meaningful scenarios in one semester utilizing the FM4D-BM process. And a consulting work via the FM4D-BM for a Korean global company has resulted in successful implementation of a new product Service system as well. Here, case studies of scenario planning and PSS design of “2030 automobile”, “2030 arts market”, and other graduate student researchers’ futuring works in 2012 are presented for the usefulness of the model. And productivity of the most time consuming and difficult tasks of environmental scanning, derivation and mapping of the change drivers in the FM4D-BM process could be enhanced substantially via AI data algorithms in the near future.
