The paper presets an investigation into the Bunjeolseol of the Jungyong interpretations by Gwak Jong-seok(1846-1919), a scholar from Gyeongsang- woodo in the late 19th century. The conclusions are summarized as follows: The analysis results of the content of Gwak s Sajiyukjeolseol show that he basically accepted his master Lee Jin-sang s viewpoint of interpretation to put together Saji and Yukjeol and, at the same time, changed the names of the four major Jis different from Lee s theory. He changed the name of the first major Ji to Jungyongdaeji. It was the same with the names of six major Jeols. He changed them based on the six major Jeol Yoji of Dokjungyongbeop instead of following Lee s theory. Gwak had many arguments over the name of the first major Ji with his predecessor Heo Yu over several years. He maintained his position on Jungyongdaeji, never accepting Heo s argument for Junghwadaeji to the end. He wrote Jungyongjijeolbyeoldo, establishing his own theory that Jungyong could be the name of all including the whole, Saji, and Yukjeol. Gwak s Sajiyukjeolseol can be characterized as follows: first, given that his theories on the four major Jis and six major Jeols were based on the Jibunjeolhae of Jungyongjangguseo, he tried to put them together to understand them from the perspective that both of them could not be discarded. Secondly, he understood the logical structure of Jungyong centered around Daeji and systemized it into the whole-Saji-Yukjeol. Finally, he wrote Jungyongjijeoldo from a different perspective from Lee Jin-sang and Heo Yu. The characteristics of his Jungyongjijeoldo are as follows: ① he identified the Heaven of Jungyong with Taegeuk of Taegeukdoseol and embodied the Heaven by drawing a circle and the Earth by drawing a square inside the circle; ② he added Gyecheonipgeuk to Jibunjeolhae and Maekrakgwantong of Jungyongjangguseo, thus highlighting its meanings; and ③ he analyzed the logical structure of Jungyong by combining Zhu Xi s statement of Jibunjeolhae Maekrakgwantong in Jungyongjangguseo and Jeongja s statement of Shieonili Jungsanwiman- samalbuhapwuiili.
