This is to check up the life and viewpoint on literature of a man, Songjiyang, one of the, by looking into the features and details of his most famous work, Junghyangmanpil. As a young man, he was more familiar with two of Sangsimgye, Hongseokmo and Hongkyeongmo, the sons of Nongsan Hong s family in Soron party, as well as developed the study under the influence of the literary men such as Seoyugu and Seohyeongsu in his mother s side of Dalseong Seo s family. For 35 years after entering government, in 1810, He had been in various positions. He took the retired life to write poems and appreciate scrapbooks till the end of his days. He only sought Sinkyeong , a kind of spiriting which works in the process of writing literary works: that is what a writer is immersed into aesthetic objects with himself lost and then the distance between the subject and object of the creation is gone. Junghyangmanpil was written as a travel essay by landscape writing in 1825, when he went sightseeing to Mt. Keumgang as Seoyugu recommending. He drained it from being described according to the date and schedule formally, with a way of Pilgijabrokhwa, which is to write the observation, experience, and discussion as a free-formed essay. I think that it is remarkable for him to realize Sinkyeong smoothly on shifting from views to sentiments to discussion by felicitously arranging the views, flavors of Mt. Keumkang, the order of nature from it, and so on.
