This paper investigated an essence the sexual fantasy of Goryeo and Joseon noblemen through an analysis of literatures. Gisaengs had a close relationship with noblemen from Goryeo era to Joseon era. Gisaeng became a material of literature work to writers, Gisaengs were invited to the birthday party, and they were mobilized even for the national recession. However, it also became a make-game to Chinese envoys. Local government officials publicly slept with gisaengs, sometimes it was not allowed openly. However, it did not receive a favorable appraisal in any case. As gisaengs earned a living by selling their talent, smile, and body, their life was tired and unfortunate. Therefore, their existence became a target of sympathy to noblemen. Joseon s intellectuals expressed a serious worry about gisaengs unprotected human right. One of motives arousing the sympathy for gisaengs is their exhausted figure. Gisaengs value depends on their youth and beauty. Therefore, the figure of old and unbeautiful gisaengs could not help being seen very pathetic to poets. Joseon s noblemen had a kind of fantasy on gisaengs. The notion of Joseon noblemen on the gisaengs is beautifulness, love, and taste for the arts. The most representative fantasy on giseangs is that gisaeng is beautiful . Joseon noblemen had a fantasy on the amusement with gisaengs. This fantasy is related to a notion that ‘gisaengs are beautiful’. They glamorized that they were beautiful who were playing and enjoying with gisaengs and that party was also beautiful because gisaengs were beautiful. The most powerful thing among noblemen s fantasy on gisaengs was ‘love’. They incessantly strived not to admit a fact that the affection for gisaengs could not help being temporary as the meeting with them was so However well noblemen spoke for giseangs thinking through the text, it could not help being distorted and processed by the male notion and consciousness.
