The Introduction and Academic Acceptance of Chinese Books- Focused on the Compilation of Liushan(劉剡) the Publisher and Scholar in Jianyang(建陽) Early in Ming(明) Dynasty -

The typeset presswork of Jianyang(建陽), China, started Wudai(五代) period and remarkably developed through Southern Sung into Northern Sung dynasty. The publishers of this city mainly compiled books about the manner and ways of the age rather than books about Confucianism. But it is remarkable that the Writings upheld Zhuxi(朱熹)’s scholarship were collected by the scholars who took Xinan(新安) reign as their arena and published by Liushan(劉剡) the publisher and scholar. Liushan claimed himself one of the literary men under Wangfeng(王逢) who succeeded Zhuxi’s study and wanted to decide devoting his life to transmit the books related Zhuxi published by Wangfeng to the world. His publishing business concentrically accomplished 1430s and most of them were published by Zhanzongrui(詹宗睿). All of these editing Books of Liushan were introduced to Chaoxian(朝鮮) and published in the early days of Chaoxian largely under the regime of King Shizong(世宗) with metal types. 『Tongjianjieyao(通鑑節要)』, which had been published in 1428 by Liushan in China, was published no later than 1434 with the type of Gengzizi(庚子字) in Chaoxian and 『Xiangshuoguwenzhenbaodaquan (詳說古文眞寶大全)』 and 『Shibashilue十(八史略)』 were published 1452 with the type of Gengwuzi(庚午字). And 『Sishutongyi(四書通義)』, which had been published by Liushan about the same period, was published with the newly cast type under the regime of King Shizong, and then 15 volumes of 『Xuanshibuzhu(選詩補註)』, which Liushan had bound up and revised 14 volumes of 『Xuanshibuzhu』 and 『Ganxingshitong(感興詩通)』, were published in 1553 with Chuzhujiayinzi(初鑄甲寅字). After this, these books had continuously been publishing until the later days of Chaoxian with printing types and wooden types as well as receiving much recognition as the essential teaching materials. The literary men and scholars of Chaoxian considered the compilation by Liushan embodied the key point of the contents about the view of confucian philosophical literary and chinese classics, and the historical view formed by Zhuxi. They also reviewed these books based on the high-grade moralistic ideas or used them very positively to strengthen the ideological logic. For instance, Renshengzhou(任聖周) and Lishizhu(李宗洙) reviewed the established annotation of 「Ganxingshi(感興詩)」 based on the Zhuqilun(主氣論) and Zhulilun(主理論), King Zhengzu(正祖) reconstructed 『Sishujishi(四書集釋)』 by making efficient use of 『Sishutongyi』 as the reference text, and Yinxingren(尹行任) practically used the history of Dongzhoujun(東周君) suggested in 『Tong-jianjieyao』 as the theoretical foundation of Damingyililun(大明義理論). This research can be meaningful in the point of finding out the publishing process, contents and aspects of the scholastic acceptance with the objects of Liushan s publication which had affected across of the board of learning in Chaoxian dynasty.
