This thesis aims to critically review the significance of realism Sino-Korean poetry. Realism in the study of Sino-Korean poetry is deemed general creation methodology regardless of time and area. It is a contradiction to grant pre-modern realism a status comparable with achievement of modern realism. It is difficult to find out any development of a form in realism Sino-Korean poetry. This results from an intrinsic attribute of Sino-Korean literature because it is a form basically aiming at reproduction of classic. It might be possible to partially find a modern sign in Sino-Korean poetry but it is impossible to organize a completed composition explaining transition to modern literature if limited to Sino-Korean poetry. Transition to modern literature has to be explained through a crack of Sino-Korean Literature form and seeking of a new form. There has been an excessive aspect in the ascription of meaning to realism Sino-Korean poetry for the time being. It is reasonable to evaluate that realism Sino-Korean poetry in late Choson period was successful to specifically reflect then reality to a certain degree but did not get much result to suggest awareness of new reality and countermeasures. It was because viewpoint of literati seeing the reality and their reaction attitude remained in the middle ages.
