This article has shown the trend of exchange shown between the Joseon envoy and families of poet Oh Dae-bin, Chu Pyeong-hyun, and Jang Yeon-deung who stayed at Deungju Gaewon-sa as appearing in the Santong area in Haero Sahaengrok (record of the route of envoy on seaway) in mid-Joseon era. Prior to the route of envoy on seaway, the exchanges between the scholars of Ming Dynasty and the scholars of Joseon were mainly in diplomatic meetings. The direct exchange began with the military force of the Ming Dynasty during the Imjin Japanese Invasion, but there was no showing of direct exchange with the Ming Dynasty scholars when the Joseon envoy group was headed to Beijing. Unlike the foregoing, after Ching Dynasty took over Liaodong in 1621, the route of envoy on seaway began with the showing of different tendency. Those envoys of Joseon that went to Beijing along the route of the Shandong area exchanged poems and literature to share the written communication with the active visitations of Ming Dynasty scholars. And, the positive and continuous exchanges with Deungju poet Oh Dae-bin, Chu Pyeong-hyun, and Jang Yeon-deung were continued. And this pattern of exchange became an important ties in the exchange of Ching Dynasty scholars and Joseon scholars.
