I have made bibliographical notes in this article of Gukho pilhwa, a record of trip to Peking, compiled by Lee, Jowon(李肇源) of Chosun, who went to Peking as an envoy in 1821, the 21st year of Sunjo reign period. Lee had associated there with Zhu Da(周達), a literatus of Qing. The book was made as the result of their conversation by writing. The title of the book came from the initial character of the two men s ho(號), respectively juren(菊人) and okho(玉壺). The book is in possession of National Library of China classified as valuable edition and is the only edition extant which has not been introduced in the academic world home and abroad. True friendship shown in Kukho pilhwa between Lee and Zhu was so impressive that the two men met and engaged in dialog by writing fourteen times in such a short period of about 50 days. They also kept contact each other by means of letters and poems communicated by second hand.
