This paper reviews the life of Kang Se-Hwang(1713~1791), known as his pen name Pyoam, by exploring his life in his artistic hobbies described in Pyoamganchal of Kandok. Regarded as a distinguished artist of poetry, calligraphy and painting, he had taken a dominant role in 18th centry s art world. But his works have poorly preserved and his letters, in particular, are so rare to help discovering his personal life. Under this condition, Pyoamganchal of Kandok is a significantly important document to improve the understanding of Pyoam, the leader of the cultural era . The document have 8 letters, which were written after his age 70. These letters contribute to uncovering his life in his late years with descriptions like his best regards to his acquaintances, concerns for his offspring and the history of his illness. Furthermore, they portray vividly his life such as his enjoying artistic hobbies, appreciating art works and asking for advice, clearly suggesting the life of contemporary artists.
