Scholarship Activity of Kim Taek-Young in China

Changgang Kim Taek-Young is an important intellectual who went to China as an exile. This paper aims to study on his past scholarship activity in China. We are going to look over the background of his scholarship activity in China, specific aspects and the meaning of them. The one of backgrounds which made him do scholarship activities is the help of Chinese people and his attachment to the writing. Changgang compiled a collection of works and a history book to introduce the culture of Joshun Dynasty. This was the best way to do as an exile. Changgang had relationships with Chinese intellectuals by conversation by writing and he compiled 30 journals. He published or edited ancestors collections of works after asked by family of the deceased. The collections published by him became integral materials to let younger juniors learn ancient writings and Joshun culture. Because he was from the official family, he could not only introduce an importance of history and literature but publish many books without permission in China. The meeting between Changgang and Chinese intellecutals had an important meaning in propelling the Korea-China exchange. Also by Changgang, Chinese intellectuals could know the academic direction of Joshun and his special attitude toward ancient writings became the guideline of studying ancient writing.
