This paper has been performed to investigate a sense of sightseeing & seclusion of Kim Soo-jeung. At first we checked up the story of Buddhist monk, Buksung and common people, Kim seung-kyong. Finally we found out a fact that loving spirit for sightseeing of Kim Soo-jeung is reflected in such a epic story very well. Kim Soo-jeung didn t have experienced of a journey for Beijing China or Edo Japan. So we are apt to think that his idea of sightseeing seemingly is far from the open mind about a long-distance trip. But his life tell us that he love closed hermit space, at the same time he have a strong desire for a long-distance trip. Like this sightseeing sense come into collision with hermit idea. He was the eldest grandson of Jangdong Kim s family. So inevitably he can t help coming and going between dynamic urban areas, Jangdong in Seoul and quiet rural spaces, Gokwoon in Gangwon province. The quiet rural spaces means his hermit district. He enjoyed himself taking an excursion to neighbor place of hermit district instead of going long-distance trip. Then he made a dynamism in the closed spaces. Therefore his poems written in Gokwoon are songs of fields and gardens around hermit space. Fields and gardens are a space of active life. On the other hand, landscapeof Sansu, mountains and waters is a word which stimulate to do a aesthetic activity following a dynamic mechanism. So we don t say having a sightseeing but enjoying quiet living. Thus fields and gardens are not a object of playing but one of living. In conclusion, we can t think to separate sightseeing sense from hermit idea.
