金陵 南公轍의 書畵에 대한 관심과 『書畵跋尾』

Interest in Calligraphic Works of Keumreung Nam Gong Cheol and 『Seohwabalmi』

본 연구는 금릉 남공철의 서화에 대한 감상 비평 활동과 그가 남긴 『서화발미』를 분석함으로써, 18세기 후반에서 19세기로 넘어가는 무렵에 존재했던 문예 활동 양상의 한 단면을 알아보기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 먼저 남공철의 서화 감상과 비평 활동에 대해 알아보았다. 서화를 매개로 삼아 주변 인물들과 교유하고, 이로써 문예 취향이 강한 삶을 구현하고자 했던 그의 모습은 예술에 심취한 문예인의 전형을 보여준다. 그가 스스로 그리던 자화상은 어떤 모습인지, 이를 이루기 위해 갖추고자 했던 문예적 소양은 무엇인지를 그의 말과 행동 속에서 추적해보았다. 아울러 『서화발미』를 집필해가는 과정을 고찰하였다. 이를 통해 『서화발미』의 외형적 구성과 내면적 성격에 대하여 더욱 명확한 이해에 이르고자 하였다.

This study aims to examine one aspect of literary activity that existed around the late 18th century and the turn of 19th century by analyzing 『Seohwabalmi』he left and appreciative criticism activities of Keumreung Namg Gong Cheol for calligraphic works. For this purpose, I examined the appreciative criticism activities of calligraphic works of Namg Gong Cheol first. He interacted with people around him with calligraphic works as a medium and tried to implement the life full of literary preference, showing the representative model of literati absorbed in arts. I traced what was the self-portrait he tried to draw and what literature knowledge he wanted to obtain to accomplish this through his words and behaviors. In addition, I examined the process of writing 『Seohwabalmi』 and through this tried to obtain clear understanding on internal nature and external organization of 『Seohwabalmi』.
