일본 대학의 동양고전 관련 디지털 인문학 교육 현황

A study on Digital Humanities education related to Oriental classics in Japanese universities

본고는 일본의 동양고전 관련 디지털 인문학의 성과와 대학의 동양고전 관련 디지털 인문학 교육의 현황과 그 시사점을 밝히는 데에 목적이 있다. ‘디지털 시대’를 맞이하여 일본 정부는 ‘전자정부’를 목표로, 한자 정보화 사업을 추진하였으며 상용한자표 자체(字體)를 개정하였다. 그리고 새로운 시대의 요구에 맞게 ‘정보(情報)’ 교과를 소학교, 중학교, 고등학교에 개설하여 그 ‘소양’을 기르는 데에 목표를 두었다. 일본의 대학과 연구 기관은 2000년대에 접어들며 본격적인 디지털 인문학 성과를 내기 시작하였다. 동양고전 관련 디지털 인문학 성과는 크게 역사학, 언어자원 분야에서 이루어졌다. 그것은 한자, 한적의 자원(資源) 확보 만이 아니라 코퍼스 확보, AI 번역, OCR을 이용한 한적 인식 등등으로 이어졌다. 일본의 대학과 연구 기관은 연계하여 공동 연구를 수행하고 있으며 이렇게 생성된 데이터베이스를 연구자, 기업, 일반인들에게 공개하고 있다. 현재, 일본의 대학에서는 디지털 인문학의 성과를 이용하고 향후 디지털 인문학자 양성을 목표로 다양한 교육을 하고 있다. 이것은 교양과목을 통한 융합 교육의 시행, 한문학･고전 교과로서의 동양고전 디지털 인문학, 디지털 인문학 관련 프로젝트와 관련한 강좌, 디지털 인문학 관련 대학원, 국가사업으로서의 학제간/국제간 네트워크의 형성으로 유형화할 수 있다. 일본 대학은 ‘공공적 디지털 인문학(public digital humanities)’을 지향하고 있다. 그래서 동양고전 디지털 인문학의 성과를 오픈 소스로 공개하여 일반인들도 디지털 인문학 성과를 이용할 수 있게 하였다. 또한, 디지털 인문학 전문가의 양성과 함께 디지털 인문학 인터프리터, 커뮤니케이터의 육성을 강조하고 있는데 이를 통해 디지털 인문학 성과를 사회에 환원, 보급하고자 해서이다.

This study is on the achievements of digital humanities related to Oriental classics in Japan and the digital humanities education related to Oriental classics in universities accordingly. In the digital era, the Japanese government promoted the Chinese character informatization project with the aim of ‘e-government’. In addition, the goal was to develop “cultivation” by opening “information” courses suitable for the new era in elementary, middle, and high schools. Japanese universities and research institutes began to produce fullfledged digital humanities results in the 2000s. Digital humanities related to the Oriental classics were largely achieved in the fields of history and language resources. It led not only to securing digital resources for Chinese characters and Chinese characters, but also to securing corpus, AI translation, and limited perception using OCR. Japanese universities and research institutes are conducting joint research in connection, and the databases created in this way are disclosed to researchers, companies, and the general public. Currently, Japanese universities are providing various education with the aim of utilizing the achievements of digital humanities and fostering digital humanities in the future. This can be categorized into implementation of convergence education through liberal art subjects, lectures on digital humanities of Oriental classics as classical subjects, digital humanities-related graduate schools, and interdisciplinary/international networks as national projects. Japanese universities have disclosed the achievements of digital humanities in the Oriental classics as an open source. This is because it aims for “public digital humanities” that allows the general public to use digital humanities achievements. Along with the training of digital humanities experts, the emphasis is on fostering digital humanities interpreters and communicators. This is because digital humanities achievements must be returned to society through this.
