The study on Kwon Yang Chon s Chinese-Poetic Literature

The purpose of this study is to comprehend Kwon s literary works and to institute the position of his poetry getting in the end of Goryeo and the early Yi dynasty by re-examination of about a thousand chinese poems. He was a great moralist and a fine writer who had experienced the first Minister of Education in Yi dynasty. He who had been a meritorious retainer made much of the prose and the verse to satisfy the requirement of reality in those days. There are many important ideas in his study of the poetry For example, he wrote poems about a doubt of his government office and the frailty of life. In the former, he wrote about wanting to leave his government office because he didn t carry out his duty and realistic troubles after he entered the government service in Yi dynasty-a worrying appearance between two dynasty. He expressed about a passivity and a disbelief, too. In the latter, he was conscious that the life is like a empty dream and riches and honors are not artificial but taking place by chance and a human being can t solve these problems by his force, in other words, he understood for himseaf that a life is like running water and once a man is old, he can never return a child. He wrote poems about a friendship of a childhood friend, a visitor about his health, a friend in exile place, a Buddhist monk and ambassador. He expressed that a friendship never change if they understand each other though the rank in job is different each other. There were many poems which was written about a patriotism and loving for the people though in the end of Goryeo and the early Yi dynasty, the political condition was very difficult. He always thought to return rural districts. While he was ashamed that he didn t accomplish his responsibility and thought that he must leave his post because he was short of ability. He wrote poems about patriotism and loving for the people on the basis of his feeling as a chinese ambassador and in exile place after he observed for himself the living condition of the people. He always asked his friends proceeding to their new post to give the benevolent government, too. His reminiscent poems reflected the histoical reality, a person and conditions in those days and he made sure of the position of himself through flowing of history.
