This paper describes the expressive structures that denote the intensity of emotions in the Serbian language. The examples are excerpted from the most important dictionaries of the contemporary Serbian language. Such structures never express only the quantitativity but also the qualitativity. In lexemes, which metaphorically expresses the intensity of emotions, their primary meanings generally are related to waterways and water areas, parts of plants, or natural disasters (especially fires). Not all nouns (even those belonging to the same group of subjects) have an equal potential for use in expressive syntagmas with the genitive expressing quantity.
