A Study on Concept in Russian Linguistics

There are various methods and approaches of concept study, and the ways of their description are based on the use of different linguistic materials. This is also due to highlighting one aspect of defined term which becomes the basis of the definition. In modern linguistics it is possible to designate the following various approaches to a concept of understanding such as psychological, logical, conceptual, philosophical, culturological and semantic ones. The psychological approach to a concept is characterized as a mental formation which performs the function of substitution. The logical approach defines a concept as a notion of practical (everyday) philosophy. In the logical and conceptual approach, a concept is seen as a tool of knowledge of external reality. The philosophical approach deals with a concept as the basis of mental content. In the culturological approach a concept is synonymous with the term meaning . The semantic approach presupposes the consideration of concept as the content of the language sememes because the meanings of words contain the knowledge of the real world.
