A Study on the Perception of Spa Services and the Status of Programs

  • 52

In the modern times, people have pursued healthy lifestyles such as wellness center, Pilates and yoga to eliminate their inner and outer stresses under rapidly changing social environments. A spa bath improves the quality of life by removing stress and keeping people’s body and mind healthy and targets a physically, mentally and socially balanced healthy life. In terms of a research method, a questionnaire survey was performed against adult men and women aged 30-60 who had a spa treatment before. A total of 806 copies were used for final analysis. The collected data were analyzed, using SPSS WIN 24.0, and the results found the followings: First, in terms of awareness of a spa treatment, women (505 respondents, 96.2%) were higher than men (267 respondents, 95%). Second, when asked why they get a spa treatment, ‘to remove stress’ was most responded by both men (122 respondents, 47.3%) and women (293 respondents, 58.4%) (χ2=61.908, p<.001). Third, when asked what kind of spa services they usually get, ‘Swedish massage (448 respondents, 29.1%)’ was the highest in full-body skincare. In full-body therapy, on the contrary, ‘aromatherapy (485 respondents, 43.9%)’ was most responded. Fourth, when asked what kind of spa services they prefer, ‘Swedish massage (302 respondents, 37.5%)’ was most responded in body massage. In body therapy, on the other hand, ‘aromatherapy (395 respondents, 49.0%)’ was the greatest. It is anticipated that this study would help spa industry with empirical data through analysis of spa customers after investigating the general status of spa industry.
