  • 63

This study attempted to analyze nail design, using the water decal technique through which nail patterns can be created with a simple treatment and Andy Warhol’s works. In this study, Andy Warhol’s works were chosen because most of them were designed, silk screen painting. The fact that a lot of works can be produced identically at a time is similar to water decals in which an artwork can be reproduced through a printer. The goal of this study is to shorten the time taken to create nail patterns through water nail decals and add artistic value to such elaborate patterns, making them more useful in practice, and the results found the followings: First, nail technicians are able to design customers’ favorite nail patterns in person and give them treatments, enhancing design efficiency. Second, it is able to create complicated design in a quick and easy fashion, using hand painting or other styling techniques. Third, this study suggests infinite potential for creative design by offering diverse patterns, not just standardized ones. This study has enhanced customers’ satisfaction by developing and providing diverse nail patterns, using water nail decals. It is meaningful in that this study has become a turning point to suggest unique design, escaping from dull and monotonous ones. It is anticipated that the study results would make a contribution to the development of diverse nail patterns with diverse motives and through continued R&Ds on creative techniques.
