Latent Profiles of Planned Happenstance Skills: Influencing Factors and Relation to Career Adaptability and Adapting Responses

본 연구의 목적은 계획된 우연기술에 따른 대학생의 잠재프로파일을 도출하고, 이에 대한 예측요인의 영향 및 결과 변인에 대한 차이를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 전국 4년제 대학생 522명의 자료를 수집하여 계획된 우연기술의 다섯 개 하위요인 점수를 기반으로 잠재프로파일 분석을 실시하였고, 잠재프로파일 별 진로적응성과 진로적응반응에 대한 점수 차이를 살펴보기 위하여 일원배치분산분석을 실시하였다. 첫째, 잠재프로파일 분석 결과 세 개의 잠재 집단(적극적 대응형, 평범한 대응형, 소극적 대응형)이 도출되었다. 둘째, 영향요인 중 성별, 학년, 전공계열, 성적, 재학 중인 대학 소재지는 계획된 우연기술 잠재프로파일에 영향을 미치지 않았다. 유일하게 긍정적 양육경험만이 유의미한 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 일원배치분산분석 결과 진로적응성과 진로적응반응의 모든 하위요인 점수가 소극적 대응형에서 적극적 대응형으로 갈수록 유의미하게 높아졌다. 본 연구는 계획된 우연기술 잠재프로파일 연구가 드문 가운데, 새로운 방법론적 시도를 통해 진로적응성 및 진로적응반응과의 관계를 검증하였다는 데 의의를 가진다. 이러한 연구 결과를 토대로, 대학생들이 계획된 우연기술을 활용하는 적극적인 진로발달 주체로 성장할 수 있도록 돕는 진로교육 및 상담 프로그램의 필요성을 제안하였다.

This study aims to decide the most appropriate number of latent profiles underlying the five dimensions of planned happenstance skills and to test the predictors and outcomes of the latent profiles. Using nationwide data of 522 university students, we conducted latent profile analysis and the results indicate that three latent profiles (active respondent mediocre respondent and passive respondent) are tenable. Among the tested five predictors (gender, grade, major, GPA, university location, and positive nurturing experience) only the positive nurturing experience had a significant effect on the latent profiles. In addition, we found that the sub-scale scores of both career adaptability and adapting responses were significantly different among the three latent profiles based on the analysis of variance results. While most of the studies on planned happenstance skills have been conducted under the variable-centered approach, our study is valuable in that we tried the person-centered approach. In addition, the study implies that career-related education and career counseling should incorporate the elements which help university students view unplanned happenstance as opportunities and take actions that make the most out of the opportunities.
