지역문화유산으로서의 담양 소리풍경 연구

A Study on the Soundscape of Damyang as a Regional Cultural Heritage

본 연구의 목적은 관계자 인터뷰를 통해 담양의 소리풍경 요소를 분석하고 이를 나주의 소리풍경 요소와 비교함으로써 두 지역의 소리풍경이 얼마나 변별적 특성을 보이는가를 고찰하는 데 있다. 담양군 공무원이나 공공기관직원, 이들이 추천한 담양 주민 등 27명에게 서면 인터뷰로 ‘담양 하면 떠오르는 소리’ 등 담양 소리풍경과 관련된16개 항목을 물어 20개의 중요 소리풍경 요소를 추출하고 이를 나주의 경우와 비교하였다. 그 결과 담양과 나주의 중요 소리풍경 요소가 서로 다르게 나타나는 것을 볼 수 있었는데, 그것을 잘 보여주는 것이 가장 빈번하게언급된 담양의 소리풍경 요소인 대숲 바람 소리이다. 나주처럼 두 번째로 높은 빈도를 보인 국악에 있어서도 농악, 판소리, 들노래를 포함한 노동요, 대금 소리가 많이 언급된 것과 발걸음 소리가 많은 것도 담양 소리풍경만의특징이라고 할 수 있다. 청취조사 결과 담양 소리풍경 요소가 특정 장소와 갖는 관련성이 나주에 비해 상당히 떨어지지만, 이 조사는 나주와 비교했을 때 담양 소리풍경의 변별적 특징을 충분히 보여주며, 관련 장소 특정과 이를 연결한 길 조성은 관찰조사와 문헌조사를 통해 보완되어야 한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the soundscape elements of Damyang through interviews with stakeholders and compare them with those of Naju to examine how distinctive the soundscapes of the two regions are. In a written interview, 27 people including Damyanggun officials, public institution employees, and Damyang residents recommended by them were asked 16 items related to the soundscape of Damyang, such as ‘the sound that comes to mind when you think of Damyang’, and 20 important elements of the soundscape were extracted and compared with the case of Naju. As a result, it can be seen that the important soundscape elements of Damyang and Naju appear different from each other, and the most frequently mentioned element of the soundscape of Damyang, the sound of the wind from the bamboo forest, is a good example of this. In traditional music with the second highest frequency, such as Naju, the fact that nongak, pansori, work songs, including deulnolae, and daegeum sound are mentioned a lot, and the fact that there are many footsteps sounds can be said to be characteristics of Damyang soundscape. As a result of the listening survey, the relevance of Damyang soundscape elements to a specific place is considerably lower than that of Naju, but this survey sufficiently shows the distinctive characteristics of Damyang soundscape compared to Naju, and the identification of relevant sites and the creation of roads connecting them should be supplemented through observational research and literature research.
