의대생의 입학 동기 척도의 개발과 타당화

A Study on Development and Validation of the Motivation Scale for Attending Medical School in Korea

본 연구의 목적은 의대생을 대상으로 한 입학동기 척도를 개발하고 그 타당도와 신뢰도를 검증하는 방법론적 연구이다. 척도를 개발하기 위하여 개방형 설문을 통해 원자료를 구하고, 이를 토대로 하여 예비 문항을 구성한 후 예비조사 및 본조사를 실시하였다. 연구대상은 예비조사를 위해 3개 대학에서 148명을, 본조사를 위해 2개 대학에서 300명을 대상으로 하였다. 수집된 자료는 탐색적 요인분석, 확인적 요인분석, 상관관계, 신뢰도 분석을 사용하여 분석하였다. 탐색적 요인분석 결과, 무동기(3문항), 성적(4문항), 부모의 기대(4문항), 직업 안정성(4문항), 사회적 지위(4문항), 적성(4문항), 소명의식(7문항)의 총 7개의 하위요인을 추출하였다. 확인적 요인분석을 실시한 결과 7개 요인이 적절함을 확인하였다. 각 하위요인의 신뢰도는 .799에서 .919의 범위로 적절하게 나타났다. 무동기는 학업소진과 정적 상관을, 학업참여와는 부적 상관을 보였으며, 적성과 소명의식은 학업소진과 부적 상관을, 학업참여와 정적 상관을 보이는 것으로 나타나 적절한 타당도를 지니고 있음을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구결과는 입학에서부터 학생들의 동기를 파악하고 지속적인 모니터링을 통해 학생들의 대학생활 적응을 돕는데 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to develop an motivation scale for attending medical school and to verify its validity and reliability. In order to develop the scale, preliminary items were constructed based on the open-ended questionnaire, and then preliminary and main surveys were conducted. The subjects were 148 from 3 schools for the preliminary survey and 300 from 2 schools for the main survey. The collected data were analyzed using exploratory factor analysis(EFA), confirmatory factor analysis(CFA), correlation, and reliability analysis. As a result of the EFA, a total of 7 sub-factors were extracted; amotivation(3items), outstanding grade(4items), meeting parents’ expectation(4items), job stability(4items), social status(4items), aptitude(4items), calling(7items). Also, the hypothesized model was verified by CFA. The reliability of each sub-factor was appropriately in the range of .799 to .919. Amotivation was found to have a positive correlation with academic exhaustion and a negative correlation with academic engagement, while aptitude and calling showed a negative correlation with academic exhaustion and a positive correlation with academic engagement. It was confirmed that it had appropriate validity. These results are expected to be useful in helping students adapt to college life through continuous monitoring and understanding their motivations for attending medical school.
