Inflammatory pseudotumor is a unique clinico-pathological entity which is characterized by an insidious, chronic and progressive inflammatory process damaging surrounding structures. Most commonly it occurs in the lungs and orbit, while skull base is rare site of involvement. It is seen in any decades and a male preponderance has been noted. Clinical feature of this tumor is an intermittent dull pain, gradually increasing in severity. Also according to the involved sites, various symptoms can be developed. Histologic examination reveals a non-specific inflammatory reaction without the presence of tumor cells. The treatment of choice is systemic steroid therapy, but radiation therapy and immunosuppressive therapy appear to be helpful. Recently the authors experienced a case of extensive inflammatory pseudotumor involving skull base, which was cured by high dose steroid therapy. Hence, we report a rare case with a review of literature.
