Pseudoprogression of Anaplastic Astrocytoma Mimicking Tumor Recurrence : Case Report and literature reviews

Recognizing pseudoprogression is important for patients with high grade gliomas; this phenomenon is perplexing because imaging findings of tumor recurrence are not different from those of pseudoprogression. Incidence of pseudoprogression after a combination of radiation therapy and concomitant Temozolomide (TMZ) has been widely increasing. However, its incidence after radiotherapy followed by adjuvant chemotherapy in anaplstic astrocytoma has rarely been reported with only one case proven by biopsy. Hence, we would like to present a case of pseudoprogression in a patient with anaplstic astrocytoma proven by surgery.
