최립의 삶과 시문학의 일고찰

A Study on Choi Rip s Life and poetry

簡易 崔岦(1539~1612)은 16세기 말에서 17세기 초의 이름난 문장가이면서 시인이었다. 최립은 金宗直ㆍ張維 등과 함께 조선 3대 문장가로 칭해지기도 했고, 한문사대가에 비견되어지기도 했다. 하지만 이러한 능력에도 불구하고 신분의 비천함 때문에 그의 삶은 매우 고단하였다. 최립은 문장에서는 司馬ㆍ遷班固와 韓愈, 歐陽脩 등 주로 진한고문의 영향을 받았으며, 시에서는 蘇軾ㆍ黃庭堅ㆍ陳師道의 江西詩派의 영향을 받았다. 유약하고 모의성이 강한 唐風의 시는 호방하고 강건하며 새로움을 추구하는 최립의 개인적 성격과는 맞지 않았기 때문이다. 그의 시풍은 주로 ‘奇健’하다는 평가를 받았으며, 자구의 단련을 강조하며 강건하고 참신한 시들을 많이 지었다. 唐風의 유행 속에서 宋風의 시를 지었던 최립은 그 당시 당풍의 문제점과 한계점에 대해 일정한 영향을 줬다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 할 수 있을 것이다.

Choi Lip(崔岦) was a renowned writer and poet from the late 16th to early 17th centuries. Choi Lip, along with Kim Jong-jik(金宗直) and Jang Yu(張維), was called one of the three greatest writers of Joseon(朝鮮) and was also called the four generations of Chinese characters. However, despite his ability, his life was very difficult because of his low status. Choi Lip was mainly influenced by Chin and Han Dynamic Classic Literature(秦漢古文), and was influenced by Jiangxi Poetry(江西詩). Tang poetry(唐詩), which is weak and highly simulated, was not in line with Choi Lip s personal character, who was strong and pursued novelty. His poems were mainly evaluated as strong and firm, and he wrote many strong and novel poems emphasizing the discipline of letters. Choi Lip, who wrote Song Poetry(宋詩) in the trend of Tang Poetry, can be said to be meaningful in that he had a certain influence on the problems and limitations of Tang Poetry.
