Buriat Scholar Bazar Sanjyevich Ishdorj as a Victim of Political Repression

Bazar Sanjievich Ishdorj was born in Selenge-Orongoy County of Buriat-Mongolian Autonomous Region, 1899. He had completed a Primary School of Orongoy and Gymnasium of Chita City. He was a holder of Russian Democratic View of East Wing and active in social and political activities. He had been working in Mongolian Education field since 1922. He had been a school director as well as trainer for Mongolian teachers from 1926 up to 1928. In 1926, He was sent to the West as a head master of Mongolian students in Germany and France by Decree of the 234th Meeting of Mongolian Government. He came back to Ulaanbaatar from Berlin in 1929. Bazar Sanjievich Ishdorj was executed under false political case, in which he was accused for advertizing Pan Mongolian ideology, nationalist pro Capitalism, member of a terrorist intelligence organization, acting as a spy for Japanese Intelligence Organization and squandering activities; specially for advertizing Pan Mongolian ideology as well as opposing views about present social institutions of People s Republic of Mongolia to school children when he was a program manager of school, in 1938. It is proven that he was libeled under political repression as we go through criminal cases of Elbegdorj Rinchino and Rinchin Byambayev and other related documents. Bazar Ishdorj was redressed by The Supreme Court of USSR in 1958. He was working for uplifting Mongolians’ literacy and introducing world culture and education in Mongolia. He contributed a lot towards educating future Mongolian human resources by his publication in Linguistics such as a German Mongolian Dictionary and service as a head master of Mongolian students in Germany and France.
